When you invite someone onto your property, you’re putting a lot of trust in them.
Whether they’re cleaning your windows, gutters, roof or exterior surfaces, you want to know that they’re experienced, professional and properly insured.
The problem is, not every contractor is.
What happens if something goes wrong?
Most jobs go smoothly — until they don’t.
A contractor could accidentally damage a window, break a roof tile, damage your property or injure themselves while working at your home.
If they’re properly insured, there is an appropriate insurance policy behind their business.
If they’re uninsured, things can become much more complicated.
You may find yourself trying to recover the cost of damage directly from the contractor, or dealing with questions about responsibility for an injury.
That’s a lot of stress over something that could have been avoided by choosing an appropriately insured professional in the first place.
Working at heights makes experience even more important
Sydney homes can have some tricky areas to clean.
High windows, gutters, skylights, balconies, rooflines and large areas of architectural glass all require proper planning.
It’s not simply a matter of getting a ladder out and hoping for the best.
An inexperienced contractor can put themselves, your property and other people at unnecessary risk.
The cheapest quote isn’t always the cheapest option.
Insurance doesn’t replace experience
This is important.
Being insured doesn’t automatically make someone a great contractor.
You want both.
You want someone who understands different surfaces, knows how to work safely at height, uses appropriate equipment and takes pride in their workmanship.
You also want the reassurance that they’re running a legitimate, professional business with appropriate insurance in place.
Don’t be afraid to ask
Before allowing someone to work around your home, it’s perfectly reasonable to ask:
“Are you insured?”
And even better:
“Can I see your current Certificate of Currency?”
A professional contractor should understand why you’re asking.
If employees are going to be working on your property, you should also ask about appropriate workers compensation coverage.
NSW Government guidance recommends homeowners check that contractors have appropriate insurance, including public liability insurance, before engaging them.
What about the “cowboys”?
We’ve all heard the stories.
Someone offers an incredibly cheap price, turns up with limited equipment, blasts everything with a pressure washer and leaves as quickly as possible.
Maybe the job looks okay from the street.
But what happens if they’ve damaged something?
What happens if they’ve used the wrong cleaning method on your roof, painted surfaces or delicate glass?
And what happens when you try to contact them afterwards?
That’s the risk you don’t see when you’re comparing two quotes.
Why we believe professionalism matters
At Perfection Reflections, we understand that we’re not simply cleaning a surface.
We’re working on your property.
That means treating your home or business with respect, working safely and taking responsibility for the quality of the job.
For us, professionalism starts with the first enquiry and continues through the quote, arrival, cleaning, final inspection and invoice.
We want you to feel comfortable having us around your property — and confident in the work we’ve done when we leave.
Before you book your next cleaner…
Don’t just ask:
“How much?”
Ask:
“Are you insured?”
“How experienced are you?”
“How will you clean my particular surfaces?”
“What’s included?”
Those few questions can tell you a lot about the person you’re about to trust with your property.
Perfection Reflections — professional, experienced and fully insured.
